Study Association Lucid

For the past years, I have been very active in our study association’s committee community.

Read more about my activities in these committees below.

Chairman of the Lucid.Bar

For the past year and a half, I have had the honour to lead our study associations bar, as chairman of the Lucid.Bar Management. When I started, I began by setting up a vision for our bar, and setting goals and standards to live up to this vision. I wanted the bar to be different from all other student bars, I wanted the bar to distinguish itself by offering a more professional, quality look. This way, we have a clear value proposition towards students, but also towards companies. Because of our professional and quality appearance, the Lucid.Bar has never had more external parties host their drinks at our bar as we do now, greatly increasing the bar’s esteem and financial security, allowing us to invest even more into this professional and quality appearance.

We chose our team of bartenders carefully, and brought structure and guidelines to the bar’s regime. When we all had our managing functions figured out a bit, we started hosting monthly bar events, like darts tournaments and pub quizzes, allowing me to acquire more and more experience in  organising, promoting and managing events.

My time with the bar has taught me tremendously about management and leading teams, my talent and my passion for it, as well as my passion for the hospitality industry. I love the energy of our team, the atmosphere, our guests and our association, and I hope to be involved with this for as long as possible.

Chief Event Management & Treasurer of the Educational Committee

It was during my year as Chief Event Management and Treasurer of the Educational Committee when I first became aware of my talent and interest in management functions. We set up a vision for the committee, a plan to work towards this vision, and as the committee grew, restructured and reorganised the team. I learned tremendously about managing and guiding a team, and implementing corporate team structures in the EduCie.

I of course learned about the basics of organisational finance as treasurer, and about organising events as chief. These lessons turned out to be extremely useful when I started as chairman of the Lucid.Bar, because I was able to immediately understand complications and problems of all other functions.

''As a chief you were a driving factor in this year's growth of the committee, you were an enthusiastic learner when it comes to the EduCie's finances. I believe this was a particularly hard task because of this year's changes in the committee's structure which made the committee way more dynamic, not the ideal situation for a treasurer. In my opinion you handled this very well, thanks to your studious character.''
